Trials by ECN, a Plant One client
The Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) has developed a technology that can improve the efficiency of complex separation processes, reducing both energy consumption and costs. With this HybSi® membrane technology, the process industry will have a state of the art alternative to distillation. Its development has now reached the stage at which pilot-scale testing is essential for moving from industrial interest to full-scale industrial deployment.

Atmospheric CO2 capture and utilisation
The aim of this TNO pilot is to demonstrate the feasibility of capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and converting it into useful chemicals. The technology is already available on a pilot scale. While the technology is still too expensive for industrial-scale application, by using Plant One’s facilities large-scale trials can be performed. With time the technology will be developed further, eventually allowing chemicals to be produced with the aid of solar power, for example.
