Detailed analysis of the energy efficiency of production processes often yields an array of options for cost saving. Energy efficiency can be improved by reducing the volume of feedstocks going into a given product, for example, but also through improving the efficiency of transport chains. Savings may be feasible in the use phase, too, by reducing energy requirements or extending product life. Energy can also be saved by boosting the efficiency and effectiveness of the product disposal phase. Options here include reuse, recycling, upcycling and materials recovery for power generation. Processes and technologies contributing to these objectives are among Plant One’s key goals. |
